Our weekly topic was set in Spanish, and there are translation problems. A principle in Spanish can also mean beginning. It's funny how the beginning of something sometimes is similar to the principle upon which it was construed.
Such might be the case of the hippie movement of the 60's. A generation that came from parents that had suffered the war (WWII) one way or another, that were involved in later wars (Korea, Vietnam) and that reality stretched tolerance until it broke.
The rejection of Capitalism, the exacerbation of feelings and ultimately the principle of liberty. Drugs in those days were not as satanized as they are now. Legislation was much more tolerant and scientists experimented with new drugs, like acids. Theses substances provided a backdoor for the subconscious to escape.
Paarticularly in California, in the USA, people started struggling to live the utopia of a classless society and libertate themselves from the shackles of the American way of life.
Great groups embodied this principle of carelessness, but none more so than The Greatful Dead. A group with a helathy following, the Deadheads, that followed them throughout the world for decades, pretty much until the death of Jerry Garcia a few years ago.
Few things I could say that could describe the 'vibe' that sorrounded this band in a concert. Enjoy.
